Young Adult (YA) Fiction has been growing in popularity for some time now, as evidenced by popular movie remakes. Popular examples are the Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games series.
YA Fiction is popular among all age groups. For adults it can be simple nostalgia and escapism. It is comforting to read a beautiful, uncomplicated story, and watch the characters grow and overcome obstacles.
It is also satisfying to read a happily-ever-after story and most YA Fiction has a happy ending; the mystery is solved, the monsters are defeated, and the couple ends up together. It can be a much needed escape from our troubled times.
