Wellington Public Library is very excited to announce a Book Birthday Party to celebrate the release of By the Grace of Todd written by local author Louise Galveston. The event will take place on Saturday, March 15, from 2-4pm in the Library’s meeting room.
Galveston is set for the book’s release on February 27 by Penguin/Razorbill publishers. During the party and book signing, Brown will read excerpts from the novel. There will be games, activities, refreshments, and crafts. Copies of the book will be available for purchase from the author. Publisher’s Weekly says of By the Grace of Todd: “…this story is all about the ride, in all of its gross and grimy glory. Galveston . . . delights in the icky habits of the Toddlians (“dead skin cell and toe jam sandwiches” are a delicacy), yet her portrayal of the brutalities of middle school feels as real as the things Todd learns about friends, popularity, and being true to oneself.”
Galveston is already hard at work on the sequel, which is set to release next Fall. Under her real name, she has been published in many children’s magazines, most notably Highlights for Children, and was given two prestigious Author of the Month awards by the editors. She has also penned several successful plays.
The book follows the adventures of Todd, whose dirty sock spawns a civilization of ant-sized people. The Toddlians believe the great Todd will never let them come to harm but Todd is being menaced by a larger than life bully who has other plans for the Toddlians. How will it all end? You’ll have to check out the book to find out.
