May has been designated as Mental Health Awareness Month in the US since 1949.
This year’s theme is “Back to Basics” with the goal of providing foundational knowledge and information to people about their mental health concerns.
In a ranking of states concerning adult mental health, Kansas ranked 42 indicating a higher prevalence of of mental illness and lower rates of access to care. For youth, Kansas ranked 33.
